BOSTON, Massachusetts–New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was reduced to tears after once again being passed over by all 32 teams in the 2015 NFL draft. The All-Pro four-time Super Bowl-winning superstar had reportedly been hoping to be taken as the first overall pick by the quarterback needy Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“I really thought that by now I would have proven my ability to lead an NFL team,” Brady sobbed as his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, tried to console him, “But I guess I don’t have the measurables that scouts are looking for.”
The two-time NFL MVP was seen by many teams as a risky pick, due to an underwhelming 40 yard dash time and the fact that he is a 15 year veteran under contract with the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots.
“I understand the NFL is a business, and that teams have to do what they think is best,” Brady said, “But I really feel like I have proven, through my handling of a difficult situation at the University of Michigan and my six Super Bowl appearances and four wins, that I am a player worth taking a chance on.”
“All I can do is continue to work, and turn this into a positive,” added the NFL postseason leader in passing yards and touchdowns as he wiped away his tears. “I’m going to use this as motivation to prove that I belong in this league.”
