ST. LOUIS, Missouri–Tension filled the air here as protesters gathered outside the police station to voice their anger over the shooting death of yet another unarmed, unlegged black resident.
Witnesses claim that Tyrone Harris, a 54 year-old father of four, was apparently attempting to cross the street at an area not marked as a crosswalk when Officer John Paley approached and asked him to return to the sidewalk.
“(Harris) didn’t listen, and when the officer moved toward him, he tried to squirm away,” said an unidentified witness, “Then the officer just started shooting.”
In his official report, Officer Paley claims Harris moved toward him in a threatening, unsettling manner.
“I’m not sure whether I thought he might kill me, or steal my soul,” Paley wrote, “But I still have the heebie-jeebies.”
But eye-witness reports contradict the officer’s account.
“Tryone would never hurt a fly,” said one neighbor, “Because hurting anything was physically impossible for him.”
“The police don’t care about the death of another unarmed, unlegged black man,” said a local store owner, “They try to say Tyrone was acting crazy, but that’s just the way he looked, like a big old, crazy inch worm. Some day this madness has got to stop.”
Since 9/11, more Americans have died at the hands of homegrown “white supremacists, antigovernment fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists than by radical Muslims,” the New York Times reported this week. Citing a count provided by Washington research center New America, the Times confirmed that with the race-base mass murder in Charleston, S.C. last week, 48 Americans have now been killed by “people espousing racial hatred, hostility to government and theories such as those of the ‘sovereign citizen’ movement,” as compared to 26 Americans who have been killed by “self-proclaimed jihadists.” American cops have killed 705 people so far this year
